Who we are!

BAARC is located just east of Birmingham. Our goal is to help any unwanted or abandoned animal find their forever home . If you would like more information on our facility or any of our pets you've seen on our list please email us or call us or just stop by during shelter hours. Our shelter hours are Sat 10-2 , and Sun 12-2 . While we are in the process of moving into a new building it may be more convenient to make an appointment outside of normal shelter adoption hours: just call us to make an appointment. BAARC is located at 4671 Appaloosa Drive in Irondale, just off I-20 exit 135. Head to Tail Animal Care is located at 1848 Crestwood Boulevard, also in Irondale, in the old American Family Care building. They provide different services such as grooming, daycare and boarding , and offer discounts for rescue boarding. For boarding info or a groom appt call 205-951-9998.

BAARC is in need! We need donations for all of our dogs and cats we already have, but due to the storms and loss of homes we are getting calls to take in more. Folks who have lost their homes and property are either surrendering their animals or asking for assistance. We need crates for overflow and we also need dog, cat and puppy food, bleach, towels or old linens, lots of newspaper, and cleaning materials. 

We need monetary donations of any amount.  Cash is always great and welcome, or you can mail a check, or donate directly to our PayPal account.  We would also welcome Home Depot or Lowe’s cards, or any contacts with them, to complete our outdoor kennels we are in the process of building to provide more room. 

Our other business, Head To Tail Animal Care, is providing free boarding to those who have lost homes, so we need help with dog food there as well.  Any donations can be dropped off at 1848 Crestwood Blvd.  For more info on how you can help, or info on any animals up for adoption, please contact us at 205-598-0454. All cats are $45.00
All dogs under 2 years are $125.00
All dogs over 2 years are $80.00
All adoption fees cover all UTD shots and spay/neuter

Our Featured Pet...

Dingo was found as a starving pup on an I-20 on-ramp. He is good-natured, handsome and loves other dogs and puppies. Dingo is friendly with people but has not been around kids or cats yet. He climbs chainlink, and will require a 6' privacy fence to be secure. Come and see this gorgeous boy... he is ready for a home of his own!
